VISIT HIGHWORTH
Programme of Events

MEET THE MAKER at VHL

You are invited to come along to Visit Highworth on the first Saturday of each month between 11am and 1pm and meet some of the artists and crafters whose work we sell. It is totally free to attend, watch and chat to the makers.

Who to meet this Spring ...

7 February

Anne Hughes - Artist

Painting and collage. As a self taught artist Anne enjoys experimenting with colour and texture. She mainly uses acrylic paint and inks but loves to add other mediums to make collages.

7 March

Ann March - Artist and Jewellery Maker

Ann is well known in Highworth for her art work and can often be found manning the desk in VHL on a Friday. Come and see Ann in action painting (maybe) or making some craft of other and chat about her work or crafting in general.

4 April

Neil George - Photographer

Neil has been taking photographs for over 50 years and from an early age was interested in using the camera to capture something other than a representational photograph. As the years have passed Neil has come to view the camera not as a way to take pictures but as a way to capture raw materials that can be turned into pictures. The kind of work Neil does now is often referred to as “expressionist”.

Come along to our Meet the Maker session in June to chat to Neil and find out more about his work.

9 May

Don Webster - Woodturner

Don has been a Highworth resident for over 50 years and took up woodturning as a hobby after retiring from his job as an engineer. Don generally works with logs of ethically-sourced native hardwoods donated by friends, neighbours and empathetic local tree surgeons.

Come along to our Meet the Maker session in May to see more of Don's work and chat to him about his passion.

WORKSHOPS at VHL

We are lucky to be able to draw on the talents of our local artists and artisans to provide a varied range of workshops and classes at our Arts and Crafts Centre in the VHL Shop. Events will be available throughout the year. Early booking is advised as places are limited.
