VISIT HIGHWORTH Meet the Makers
Joanna Piekarz
About this maker
Joanna Piekarz makes dolls, fabric animals and other textile items and sells them under the name Tilda's Way. Her dolls are inspired by the whimsical, handmade fabric Tilda dolls created by Norwegian designer Toné Finnanger in 1999, known for their long limbs, simplistic faces (no mouth or eyebrows), and charming, rustic, or Scandinavian-style attire. These popular, "perfectly imperfect" dolls are made from Tilda fabrics, often cotton or chambray. There is a certain attitude to life in Tilda's world, whimsical and romantic, like a ball gown worn with wellies – perfectly imperfect!
In the Arts and Crafts Centre at Visit Highworth you will find a beguiling range of dolls and teddies created by Joanna. They are dressed in handmade clothes and handknitted jumpers and cardigans. Many have delightful accessories. You can also purchase separate outfits to dress up your new friend.
Joanna also makes various bags and other stitched items.
