About this maker

A potter and ceramicist based in Wiltshire, Mary works mainly by throwing forms on the potter's wheel, finishing with a variety of methods including carving, painting and sketching. She creates bowls that both illustrate and are shaped by the Wiltshire countryside, and a range of tableware featuring her distinctive tree motif. Mary also enjoys working with wood and ceramics to make individual wall pieces.

In the Visit Highworth Craft Centre you will also find a range of delicate ceramic jewellery items crafted by Mary Thorne.

Mary is a member of Wagon Yard Artist's Studio in Marlborough, Wiltshire. She is happy to take commissions for individual items, and also offers individual throwing lessons by arrangement. Please feel free to get in contact if you would like to discuss a commission or lesson.
